Doctor Who Magazine began life in 1979 - although back then it was known as Doctor Who Weekly. Issue #1 was released in October of that year for the price of 12p! It wasn't until 1980 that the issues began to be published monthly, hence the change in name to Doctor Who with the tagline A Marvel Monthly. The release of Issue #61, in 1982, meant that the magazine became known as Doctor Who Monthly. Doctor Who Magazine later emerged with issue #107 in December 1985.
FACT: DWM holds the Guinness World Record for "Longest Running Magazine Based on a Television Series."

The cover for DWM 440 (available Thursday 20th October, price £4.99) - a tribute to actress Elisabeth Sladen, who will always be in our hearts as journalist Sarah Jane Smith.
The current Editor of Doctor Who Magazine is Tom Spilsbury.
